Description
4 oz bar.Ross brand Microwax-190 (microcrystalline-190) in white bar form.
This microcrystalline hard wax has a high melting point (
185°F
to
200°F
).
Uses include: At 5% in votive and pillar waxes it increases the candle’s opacity and whiteness and helps eliminate surface imperfections.
Micro 190 can be used at higher percentages to
achieve a clean smooth finish on candles,
prevent oil migration, and reduce brittleness.
Also:
Perfect for making the shell of a Hurricane candle.
Overdipping pillars and tapers for better burning and prevent them from dripping.
Dipping candles into micro hard wax at a specific temperature gives the candles a snowflake effect.
Can be used to increase the overall quality of paraffin waxes.
It is a beeswax substitute characterized by the fineness of its crystals.
Microcrystalline waxes are tougher, more flexible and usually have a higher melting point than paraffin wax. This wax binds solvents & oils, to prevent sweating-out of compositions.
It inhibits fragrance 'bleeding'.
Use of 3-5% blended into other wax will improve fragrance retention and opacity of candles.
For molded candles 1% will improve structural/heat integrity, 1% to improve fragrance retention.
To keep your candles from breaking 1-2% will improve candle strength as well as fragrance retention.
For jar candles 5% will improve adherence to container walls and fragrance retention
Improved strength allows for better resistance to heat and shipping in hot conditions
Appearance = Increased opacity. Aides in obtaining smooth surface, eliminates mottling/crystallization spots. In jar candles, can aide and promote adhesion to glass. Fragrance - Better retention, and reduction in fragrance bleed. Structural = strengthens & increases rigidity and/or flexibility (for wick waxes)
