    HUGE!! ca. 1942-1944 WW2 Vintage *55th NAVAL CONSTRUCTION BATTALION SEABEE* Ship Fitter 1st Class PETTY OFFICER's FPO Outgoing Letter Lot:
    note: only (1) complete USN FPO cover/letter.....others are prodigious multiple page handwritten letters ca. 1942-1944 FPO from (mainly) NEW GUINEA SWPAC Theater.

    -SEABEE attached 55th NCB Co. B-6, activated Davisville RI, staged out of Australia
    Brisbane before o/s SWPAC deployment to Port Moresby NEW GUINEA.
    -SEABEE naval personnel were usually older men with engineering, construction, mining,
    etc pre-war civilian occupation skills.....and as such, as reflected in these letters: were generally educated, articulate, thorough, etc.  Superb WW2 personal chronology of the 55th NCB.....
    -Letters are handwritten w. descriptive LEGIBLE almost daily journalistic musings about his *Life in the Bush*.  Out in the NG jungle, away from the comforts of civilization....not much to do, other than to write letters to the family & folks back in CONUS.
